Being cultural is akin to becoming a circle in a world of corners. All we have to pass on to future generations is the individuality that we carry around and are recognized for, our culture, religion, and way of life, and we don’t want our children to ask, “Maa, what is our culture, and where do we belong?”
Our culture is all we have as a means of distinguishing ourselves from others. I doubt our culture will be left behind as life moves faster than a bullet. And, with today’s vibrant young guiding the future, there are many questions about someone remembering their cultural heritage.
We’ve learned to modify and combine new colours to create something new, but we’ve recently forgotten what our original colour was. So, how can we keep our memories of the past alive in each of us?
By remembering that every one of us has a distinct colour palette that is unlike any other in the world. To treasure what we inherit from our forefathers and mothers as a legacy. To be thankful for having an identity that encompasses more than just being a human being.
To be thankful for the presence of your loved ones. And looking for small puzzle pieces of our culture and adding them to complete the puzzle called life.
